Position Summary

The Pattern Maker is responsible for constructing free-hand or computerized high-quality patterns trued to ensure manufacturability for cut, sewn, and fitted quality garments. The position leverages knowledge of sewing operations, construction, and fabrics to achieve designated fit requirements and design aesthetics.

Specific Responsibilities

Communicate and collaborate with Design and Engineering to determine the design style and lines, shape, fit, measurements, and placement of all details for the garment. Create patterns using various methods such as free hand/draping or digital using Gerber AccuMark software application. Process pattern revisions and adjustments based upon feedback from fit sessions to achieve desired garment fit and design aesthetics. Plot and cut paper patterns to support prototype or sample creation. Process hard patterns into digital by leveraging Geber AccuScan software application. Grade patterns and ensure graded sizes maintain proportions and appearance as base size. Ensure patterns and construction can be efficiently produced in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

 

Maintain patterns created from the concept phase, development phase, and through production in Gerber YuniquePLM (PLM). Create and maintain the construction details, measurements, and cutting instruction pages in PLM. Analyze patterns to calculate and provide thread consumption for all internal manufacturing styles using A&E Anecalc spreadsheet.

 

Convert patterns and generate 3D models that are visually and physically accurate using Browzwear VStitcher software application. Solidify design intent and obtain a close approximate fit digitally using the tools and functionality within the 3D software application. Create material libraries to capture physical and visual characteristics utilized in a 3D workflow.

 

Create compressed zip files for patterns and publish to internal and external manufacturing facilities. Convert turnkey supplier pattern files to allow import into Product Development systems.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in technical design or closely related field preferred.
  • Solid understanding and skills in apparel development technical software applications.
  • Intermediate pattern making and grading skills. Solid knowledge of garment construction, fit interpretation, cutting and textiles.
  • Possess leadership skills necessary to:
    • Conduct meetings
    • Create and provide presentations
    • Lead group efforts and projects
    • Mentor and train Assistant and Associate Pattern Makers

Minimum Job Experience Required

MINIMUM JOB EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (Years and type of specific experience):

  • 3 -5 years of related experience in computer-based pattern making.
