Position Summary

The eCommerce Merchandising and Operations Assistant Manager collaborates with the Senior Manager and assists with the internal/external functions required for retailer site management and eCommerce activity. A successful Assistant Manager is proactive, highly analytical and data driven with an understanding of various online marketing principles and KPIs, and has a passion for product and market trends. The Assistant Manager is comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding, and exciting environment.  Responsibilities include execution of priorities established by the account and sales/marketing teams including managing the day-to-day placement of creative content on the retail partner sites, merchandising the categories and products through best practice digital initiatives, supporting and executing marketing programs to convert traffic once it appears on our retail partner sites.  An understanding of operational requirements related to eCommerce activity is required.  Key KPIs for this role include maximizing site traffic, engagement, conversion rate, maximizing sales volume/value and consumer loyalty.

Specific Responsibilities

Site Merchandising: Assist in driving overall eCommerce business growth via competitive on-site merchandising on Amazon.  Merchandise the product assortment to best enhance conversion and increase Average Unit Retail (AUR), focusing on best-in-class merchandising techniques including product recommendations, unique offerings, cross-sells, up-sells, bundling, etc. specifically on Amazon.  Become intimately familiar with SKU-specific metrics and develop a consistent approach to evaluating product performance and ensure items go-live within documented time frames.

Account Relationships: Maintain and develop strategic relationships with accounts to expand and grow sales.   Assist with creation of thorough presentations and support technical product presentations to account for pre-line meetings as required by account.

Competitor Awareness: Responsible for knowing what competitors are doing within each key account and reporting on competitive landscape.  Understand the account’s objectives, key strategies, competitors, and consumer/ shopper targets.

Analysis and Profitability: In conjunction with the Sales team, be accountable for product performance against KPIs. Analyze site traffic, product assortment, conversion, sales volume, consumer behavior and consumer satisfaction, and make regular recommendations to optimize performance and improve the retailer site profitability through merchandising and marketing tactics.  Analyze content using retailer portals, sales reports, and audits, acting upon further optimization strategies

Site Marketing: Merchandise the Home Page, product Categories, Marketing pages, and Product pages to align with the marketing strategy plan on any given day.  Partner with the Digital team to assist in managing promotional strategies aiding in the achievement of business objectives while reconciling with guidelines provided by Brand and Financial Teams.  Assist with the calendaring process for site content and promotions while maximizing utilization of tools made available by each retailer.

Strategic Planning: Support the Senior Manager and Sales team by providing input into the strategic planning process.  Provide input to maximize category presence among current distribution channels while identifying new market and product segments to foster future sales growth.  Support the development and effectiveness of joint value creation through understanding of unmet needs and aligning with FOTL organizational capabilities and priorities.  Prioritizes initiatives and focuses efforts to optimize results for both customer and company.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, a related field, or equivalent years or related work experience.
  • Knowledge of web-based content management tools, as well as associated best practices.
  • Strong analytics and project management skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to lead projects where tasks may not be clearly defined; mobilize cross-functional teams and creatively solve problems.
  • Self-starter with excellent communications skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team spirit with ability to forge productive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Job Experience Required

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience driving an eCommerce business, prior experience on Amazon site preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in eCommerce site merchandising.
  • 2+ years of experience in eCommerce site marketing.
