Position Summary

The Human Resources (HR) Compliance Administrator provides support and guidance related to domestic legal and regulatory matters including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action Plans (AAP), and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and collaborates with HR and Legal to develop strategies to minimize risk to the organization.

The HR Compliance Administrator will partner with key stakeholders in the development, implementation, and tracking of all domestic HR policies and procedures. This position is responsible for maintaining records of all global HR policies and procedures and collaborating with global HR Business Partners to identify opportunities to standardize policies, where possible.  

This position ensures regular training, auditing, follow-up, and reporting on legal, regulatory, and internal processes and procedures. This position will serve as a liaison between the HR and Legal functions.

Specific Responsibilities

Legal/Regulatory Compliance: 

·       Partner with the Legal department to ensure HR policies and procedures comply with domestic (federal, state and local) employment laws and requirements. Maintain knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations. 

·       Coordinate the distribution of materials and track acknowledgements for the Berkshire Hathaway Global Ethics and Compliance Program with global HR leaders.

·       Partner with the Legal and Internal Audit departments to develop HR audit process for domestic facilities. Once established, manage audit process and measure compliance.

·       Annually review audit process for changes to ensure domestic compliance.

·       Understand current global HR compliance process. Work with Global HR Business Partners to develop a global audit process.

·       Coordinate workplace harassment and investigative officer training for new investigative officers and periodic updates.

·       Conduct periodic training for various HR processes such as I-9 and investigative officer, as necessary.

HR Policy and Procedure Administration: 

Domestic Policies and Procedures 50%

·       Maintain internal record of all HR policies and procedures.

·       Review existing HR policies and procedures and identify changes as necessary.

·       Develop HR policies and procedures, collaborating with business leaders and other key stakeholders to develop in support of business needs.

·       Review benchmark data for prevalent and best practices and provide recommendations to improve policies and practices as appropriate.

·       Ensure policies and procedures are maintained in employee database, when appropriate.

·       Develop process for annual review of all HR policies.

Global Policies and Procedures 50%

·       Maintain record of all HR policies and procedures. 

·       Partner with global HR to identify opportunities for consistent global policies and procedures.

·       When appropriate, develop standardized global policies and procedures.                

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Communication or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to make independent decisions consulting with HR leadership when necessary
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidential information; strong ethics, integrity & judgment
  • Strong ability to prioritize and maximize time
  • Action-oriented "can-do" approach that demonstrates commitment, ownership, and personal accountability
  • Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders on the development of policy to meet the needs of the business
  • Understanding of employment policies, processes and best practices as well as passion for enterprise-wide HR audit and compliance practices preferred.

Minimum Job Experience Required

  • 2+ years of professional work experience, preferably in human resources, legal, or compliance
  • Prior experience administering compliance programs such as ADA, HR audits, and Workplace Harassment program preferred
  • Proven program management experience
