Position Summary

The Systems Engineer I designs control systems for automated material handling systems. Responsibilitie include the development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, PLC logic, HMI, SCADA and solutions that deliver exceptional value to the Company’s distribution facilities. Uses creativity and innovation to deliver material handling solutions. Works under the direction of manager or more senior engineers and works closely with the overall project team to design systems to meet project requirements.

Specific Responsibilities

Participate in the implementation of material handling and control system projects.

Design and develop control logic with proper documentation.

Implement and maintain control logic in programmable devices such as PLC’s, I/O, and barcode readers           

Enhance the performance and accuracy of existing control and material handling systems.

Train operating and maintenance personnel on control system functions and maintenance.

Design and develop operator interface system to provide timely and accurate system status information.

Provide on-call support and troubleshooting to support control systems in manufacturing and distribution areas.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in industrial electricity, mechatronics, a similar program, or a combination of education and experience deemed equivalent to an associate degree required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Technical knowledge required:
    • Experience with PLC’s (Allen Bradley a plus)
    • Knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA
    • Proficient with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Ability to learn new technologies
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Creative-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated

Minimum Job Experience Required

  • Related work experience with control systems a plus but not required.
